The hike to the Steppe Viewpoints in Patagonia is a fascinating experience that combines history, nature, and breathtaking landscapes. Your adventure begins at the Sarmiento Entrance, where you'll start a one-hour hike to a rock overhang. This site features rocks paintings that are over 6,000 years old and was frequented by the Aonikenk or Tehuelche people, the area's native inhabitants. Here, you will have the chance to learn about Patagonia’s rich cultural history. After exploring the site, you’ll descend from the overhang and walk across the Patagonian steppe for about two hours. This stretch allows you to immerse yourself in the open landscape and observe native flora and fauna. At the end of this trail, the driver will be waiting to continue the adventure. Once in the vehicle, you’ll head toward Laguna Azul, where you can enjoy lunch and use restroom facilities. Along the way, you may spot large groups of guanacos as well as other species such as rheas, grey foxes, condors, and black-chested buzzard-eagles, adding a touch of wildlife to the experience. After recharging, you’ll continue into the park for the final hike. This two-hour trail winds through pre-Andean shrub vegetation, offering spectacular views of the Paine Horns and Almirante Nieto massif. Upon reaching the destination, you'll descend to the shore of Lake Sarmiento, where you’ll have the chance to explore incredible calcium carbonate rock formations formed over time. This location is not only photogenic but also a geological highlight that showcases Patagonia’s natural beauty. At the end of the hike, you’ll return to Puerto Natales, concluding a day filled with history, exploration, and stunning landscapes.

Luego de explorar este sitio, descenderás del alero y caminarás por la estepa patagónica durante unas dos horas. Este tramo te permitirá sumergirte en el paisaje abierto y observar la flora y fauna autóctona. Al final de este trayecto, llegarás a la S, donde un conductor te estará esperando para continuar con la aventura.

Una vez en el transfer, te dirigirás hacia Laguna Azul, donde podrás disfrutar de un almuerzo y utilizar el servicio higiénico. Durante el trayecto, es posible observar grandes grupos de guanacos, así como otras especies como el ñandú, el zorro gris, el cóndor y el águila mora, que añaden un toque de vida salvaje a la experiencia.

Después de recargar energías, continuarás hacia el parque para realizar la última caminata. Este sendero de aproximadamente dos horas transcurre entre vegetación de matorral preandino, ofreciendo vistas espectaculares de los Cuernos del Paine y el Almirante Nieto.

Al llegar a tu destino, descenderás a la costa del Lago Sarmiento, donde tendrás la oportunidad de explorar increíbles formaciones rocosas de carbonato de calcio que se han formado a lo largo del tiempo. Este lugar no solo es fotogénico, sino que también es un punto de interés geológico que muestra la belleza natural de la Patagonia.

Al finalizar la caminata, regresarás a Puerto Natales, concluyendo un día lleno de historia, exploración y paisajes asombrosos.
